Open for 25 New Membership Spots

UPDATE: All the spots are filled!! Thanks!!

It’s 7 PM EST! Do you know what that means? We are officially open for 25 membership spots on the Etsy Twitter Team!

Before you apply, please read the Team Participation Policies. You will be asked to agree to these policies when you join. If you don’t like the policies, please don’t apply. All members are expected to adhere to the policies.

How to Join:

Send an email to etsytwitterteam@gmail.com with the subject “July: New Membership”.

In the email include:
  1. Your Etsy shop name (http://username.etsy.com)
  2. Your full Twitter address (http://twitter.com/username).
  3. Tell me why you would like to join and how long you have been using Etsy and Twitter.

Failure to do these three things will disqualify your application.

When I receive your email, I will send you the Participation Policies in full for you to look over. You have not officially joined until you get back to me agreeing to the Policies.

The first 25 people who agree to the Participation Policies are our newest members. If someone doesn’t agree with the policies after I send them, I will move down the list to #26 and so on.

I am not saving the emails for future membership openings. If you don’t get in this time around you will have to apply again.

Let me know if you have any questions in the comments.

Thanks and good luck!

The Time Has Almost Come!

Wow! What a ride this has been since January when the Etsy Twitter Team finally got under way! Our growth was exponential! And through the last six months we have formed a really nice tight knit community. We have had some really great promotions and lots of fun. We have put our pin on the map!

At start we had over 300 members. We lost a few when we instituted Participation Policies. We’re down to about 80 members now. But that had to happen because our goal is to be the authority on Twitter for all things handmade. We cannot do that if the whole team is not participating.

Now that we have scaled back to the people who really want to make this team work, we have room for some new members. Starting tomorrow at 12:00 pm EST we will be accepting 25 new members. First come. First served.

Many factors contribute to why we are only accepting 25 new members. First and foremost is my health at the moment, to be completely open about it. I have some chronic pain issues that have flared severely and can only do so much right now even with the support of our awesome co-leader, Kristen. Secondly, we want to grow the team in a controlled manner as there is a lot of information for new members to catch up on and learn. Having someone get lost in a big membership shuffle is not what I want for our new members. We take care of members really well here and I want that to continue.

My plan is to open for 25 new members every so often until we reach a certain number that has yet to be decided. So if you are interested in joining I advise you to keep tabs on this blog. I will not be taking names for a waiting list.

Tomorrow at 12:00 pm EST I will post instructions for how to join. Hope to see you there!

New Team Participation Policies

Being part of a team means working together for a common goal. This means that you actually have to do something in order to reach that goal.

So I am implementing new Team Participation Policies effective immediately.

In order to participate in our team promotions and events you must be considered an Active Member. This includes all shops that are currently signed up for future spots as Shop of the Week.

In order to be considered an Active Member, you must do ONE of the following:

• Twitter about something team related at least 4 times per month. You must use the team hashtag #etsytwitter or I will not see your tweet. Of course I strongly encourage you to tweet about the team much more frequently than this as well.

• Blog about the Team at least once per month. If you can, please blog about each Shop of the Week as well as write up promotional posts about other team members.

• Create an Etsy Twitter Team Treasury

Additionally, I expect you to check in every month during our monthly roll calls in the Etsy Forum. This simply involves a quick hello in our thread as well as a quick tweet about the shop above you in the thread. This takes about 2 minutes to do. Checking in is mandatory to be considered an Active Member.

April's Check In thread can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=6104094. Please check in if you have not already done so.

Failure to do these things will be grounds for one warning. If you do not do these things within one month after your warning, you will be asked to leave the team. If you receive more than three warnings during one year, you will be asked to leave the team. If you are signed up for a Shop of the Week spot in the future, you will forfeit your week if you are asked to leave the team.

I’m not asking for much of your time at all. Tweeting something takes less than five minutes. A blog post can take up less than 30 minutes. If you have time to work on and promote your Etsy shop and use Twitter, you have time to promote the Etsy Twitter Team.

Please, as always, feel free to email me with any questions or comments you have about this new policy.

Thank you!

P.S. We are not currently taking new memberships right now. Keep your eye on the blog for the next few months to see when we open up again. Thanks.
